| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
Study on Rural Connectivity includes the following studies (1-5) covering following assignments (a-h). Study 01 & 02: Developing a framework regarding involvement of Upazila parishad/Union parishad/Local community/stakeholders for rural road maintenance and road maintenance and road safety program for participation in management and funding. Task-03: Feasibility study for potential riverine transport for the hard-to-reach villages considering multi-modal transport system in char and haor area. Task-04Prepartion of Road Master Plan to provide road access (including multi-modal transport) to the hard-to reach villages in three hill districts. Task-05: research on reviewing existing contract management practices for hilly, haor, char areas, identifying the drawbacks and prepare recommendation of contract management with an objective of timely completion and improvement of quality of works in those hard-to-reach areas. Assignments in brief:- a) data Analysis: Compilation of socio-economic and road network fata for the hard-to-reach villages of haor, char, island and hilly areas of the country. b) Identification of potential rural waterways: Identification of potential rural waterways in selected haor, char, island areas of the country. c) Guidelines for riverine transport: Review the existing guideline/practices for riverine transport/boat operating procedure, identify the drawbacks and prepare recommendations for safe riverine transport commensurate with existing law. d) Guideline for contract management: reviewing existing contract management practices for hilly, haor, char areas, identifying the drawbacks and prepare recommendation of contract management with an objective of timely completion and improvement of quality of works in those hard-to-reach areas. e) Prepare Road Network: Identification and prioritization of road network (including multi-modal transportation to connect the dispersedly located and hard-to-reach villages in three hill districts. f) stakeholder meeting: Conduct stakeholder meetings, workshops and interviews as required. g) Framework/Guideline: Prepare framework/guideline (i) for involvement of Upazila Parishad/Union Parishad/Local Community/different stakeholders for their effective participation and funding in rural road maintenance and road safety program. h) Study Report: Prepare and present reports as outcome of tasks identified in the list of studies. |
