Title : Gazette of Public Procurement (Amendment) Act, 2026 Published
Description :

The Gazette of the Public Procurement (Amendment) Act, 2026 was published on 10 April 2026, following the assent of the Hon’ble President on the same day.

Earlier, on 9 April 2026, the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) passed the Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which had been placed before the House by the Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Minister of Planning, Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

Prior to this, on 4 May 2025, the Public Procurement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 was promulgated by the Hon’ble President. The Ordinance was subsequently put into effect by the immediate past interim government through a gazette notification issued on 28 September 2025.

Given the necessity and legal imperative to formalize the amendments to the Public Procurement Act, 2006 (PPA 2006), the Ordinance was required to be ratified into Act.

Major amendments in this Act include removal of 10 per cent plus-minus price cap in national works procurement, mandatory use of e-GP, compulsory inclusion of a local partner in JV for international competitive tendering (ICT), emphasis on quality, morality, efficiency in public procurement, and sustainable public procurement, etc.

With the passage of the Bill in Parliament and the subsequent presidential assent, the Ordinance has now been duly enacted into law.
