The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) signed a contract on 11 March 2020 with Dohatec New Media on electronic government procurement (e-GP) training. Under the 28-month contract training on e-GP for tenderers, procuring entity (PE) officers, concerned bank officers and the policy-level officials of the government will begin soon. The contract has been signed under the auspices of the Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) which is being implemented by CPTU. The contract will continue until 30 June 2022. The training program is designed for 11 thousand recipients in five categories from registered tenderers, procuring entities, organization admins, banks and policy level officials on different aspects of e-GP operation. About four thousand officials from procuring entities who are e-GP users will get five-day training in a total of 200 batches. Each batch will include 20 officials. There will be day-long training for 750 organization admin (OA) in 50 batches with 20 persons in each batch. Five thousand registered tenderers will participate in training program in 250 batches. The number of participants in each of the batches of the day-long program will be 20. Apart from that, 750 concerned officers from various banks having MoU with CPTU will also take part in the training program in 50 batches with 15 persons in each batch. The total number of targeted participants from policy level officials (e.g. from Head of Procuring Entity and Ministries) is 500. They will participate in the day-long training in 50 batches while each of the batches will accommodate 10 officials. Registered tenderers will be able to participate in the training program in five venues of Dohatec through CPTU. Training for other categories will be held at own training lab of CPTU on Planning Ministry campus at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka. Mr. Md. Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury, Director General of CPTU and Ms. Luna Shamsuddoha, Chairperson of Dohatec, signed the contract on behalf of their respective sides at the CPTU conference room. On this occasion, DG CPTU Mr. Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury put emphasis on effective conduct of the training program on e-GP with sincerity. He said, ‘If required, cooperation from national procurement trainers could be sought.’ Dohatec Chairperson Ms. Luna Shamsuddoha said Dohatec has been involved in CPTU’s e-GP operation, maintenance and training. She assured CPTU of engaging more skilled and efficient trainers in the upcoming e-GP training programs under this contract. With an aim to digitize public procurement, Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the e-GP system on 2 June 2011. Until 11 March 2020, a total of 3 lakh 70 thousand tenders worth of BDT 38 lakh 22 thousand crore were invited. Now, over 70 percent of public procurement is being conducted through the e-GP system.
